Free Museum Visits
PITT ARTS’ Museum Visits are free only for undergraduate, graduate and professional students from the Pittsburgh campus with a valid Pitt student ID. All others must pay admission costs set by the participating museums.
Free Museum Visits are suspended during the Summer and resume in late August for the Fall and Spring Semesters. Please, review the safety protocols and admissions policies of the Free Museum Visits Partners before visiting their establishments.

The Andy Warhol Museum is open to the public Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and Fridays 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Closed Tuesdays. Pitt Students should reserve their timed entry at www.warhol.org and enter the promo code PITTSTUDENT at checkout to receive free admission. Students still must present their valid Pittsburgh campus ID upon arrival to gain free admission. All visitors age 2 and above are required to wear masks while inside the museum. Mondays, 10 a.m.–12 p.m., are reserved for those in the community who are most at risk–seniors, visitors with disabilities, or those with compromised immune systems.
The Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History are open Friday– Sunday & Wednesday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m and Thursday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Pitt Students may reserve their advanced timed tickets through either https://carnegiemnh.org/buy-tickets/ or https://cmoa.org/visit/. Either site will gain admission to both museums. When the students visit the website, they should select the student rate. When they go to checkout, they will enter the promo code PITTSTUDENT and it will not charge them for the ticket. Students must present their valid Pittsburgh campus ID at the museums to access their free admission. All visitors age 2 and above will be required to wear masks. In the galleries, nothing is permitted to be carried on one’s back, including backpacks, drawstring bags, and purses. Please leave umbrellas, briefcases, backpacks, and large bags at home. Only pencils, paper, notebooks and sketchbooks are permitted in the galleries; please do not bring pens, paints, or inks.
The Carnegie Science Center is open Wednesday – Monday, 10 a.m. –5 p.m. Closed Tuesdays. Pitt Students may reserve their advanced timed tickets by calling 412-237-2400 and speaking with a Visitor Service Representative. Students must present their valid Pittsburgh campus ID when the arrive at the Science Center to gain free admission. All tickets offered will be for timed entry every 30 minutes. All visitors age 2 and above will be required to wear masks.
Special Closing Dates: Because of heavy traffic and traffic restrictions on the North Side, Carnegie Science Center is typically closed on days when there are Steelers home games or other major events at Heinz Field.
The Mattress Factory is open Thursday – Sunday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Wednesday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. To limit the number of the visitors in the museum at a time, they are instituting a timed-entry system. All visitors must purchase/reserve their tickets online before arriving at the museum.

When you arrive at the museum, you will need to show either a digital or paper copy of your e-ticket at the admissions desk. You will also be required to present your valid Pitt ID to receive your free admission. You may arrive at any time during your entry window.
For your safety and the safety of all visitors and staff, masks are required for everyone inside the museum. Backpacks are allowed, as are pencils, notebooks and sketchbooks.
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is open daily 9:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. For your safety and the safety of those around you, masks are strongly recommended for all guests and are required for unvaccinated guests ages 2 and up. For immunocompromised guests and others who prefer that all guests wear a mask, Phipps is offering Mask-only hours on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Please note that large groups are not admitted at this time. For safety, Phipps will not honor these ticket benefits at universities where and when shelter-in-place orders are in effect. The Senator John Heinz History Center and Fort Pitt Museum are open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pitt Students must present their valid Pittsburgh campus ID to gain free admission. Visitors and staff who are unvaccinated or who otherwise choose to wear a mask are encouraged to do so. Hand sanitizing stations are provided for visitors at the museum entrance and throughout the building. Limited group visits are available in advance by contacting email@example.com.
Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum is open Mondays-Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hand sanitizing stations and additional cleaning protocols have been added throughout the public areas of the museum.
Visitors and guests are encouraged to wear masks. Soldiers & Sailors will continue to review guidance from local, state and the CDC authorities for any changes in guidance and recommendations.
Please note that group visits and tours must be arranged in advance. In addition, please check with your department prior to considering a tour that they are indeed willing to reimburse PITT ARTS for docent-led and other Group Visits.
