Cheap Seats

The Cheap Seats program is available to University of Pittsburgh students, faculty, and staff with a valid Pitt ID. Each person can purchase up to four tickets for all shows (with a few noted exceptions), and you can take non-Pitt people. You must be going to the performance yourself and show your Pitt ID.

Your tickets will be waiting for you one hour prior to the performance at the appropriate venue. Again, be prepared to show your valid Pitt ID at the Will Call box office. All sales are final. No returns, no exchanges.

Pitt Arts works with arts organizations to ensure that the best available seating is offered for a low price. Individuals with special needs should contact the arts organization directly in order to purchase tickets and ensure accessible seating.

Fifteen & Firebird: The Season Finale

A star studded ending to the season starts with composer Michael Daugherty’s ode to Pittsburgh icon, Andy Warhol, which transforms Warhol’s colorful creations into symphonic masterpieces. Then pianist Yefim Bronfman performs Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto. The concert concludes with Stravinsky’s dramatic Firebird that brings listeners from the fiery Infernal Dance to the magical transcendence of the finale.

Let's Groove Tonight: Motown & The Philly Sound

Magic melodies come to life as the pop, soul and R&B sounds of Motown and the famous hits from the Philly Sound face off in this exciting concert experience. Led by Broadway superstar Chester Gregory - who was last on the Heinz Hall stage in June 2022 with the Music of Motown - and vocal powerhouses Ashley Jayy and Brik Liam, this incredible evening is full of class hit songs made famous by The Spinners, They Stylistics, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Lou Rawls, Diana Ross, Gamble & Huff and Percy Sledge.

The Pittsburgh Symphony is crossing Penn Avenue again to play in the O’Reilly Theater and continue last year’s inaugural Summer Shorts series. This brisk, Italian program features Rossini, Marianna Martines, Mendelssohn’s “Italian” symphony, and PSO’s Principal Bass Nicholas Myers on an exacting Bottesini bass concerto. Associate Conductor Jacob Joyce leads the orchestra from the playful overture to L’Italiana in Algeri to the light and flying strings that begin Mendelssohn’s Fourth Symphony for a Summer Short that evokes the sweet life.

Evil Does Not Exist

The latest film from the director of the Academy Award-winning film Drive My Car, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi’s Evil Does Not Exist follows Takumi and his daughter Hana living in Mizubiki Village, close to Tokyo. They live a modest life according to the cycles and order of nature. One day, the village inhabitants become aware of a plan to build a glamping site near Takumi’s house. It becomes clear that the project will have a negative impact on the local water supply, causing unrest.

Don Hertzfeldt’s newest animated film ME is a 22-minute musical odyssey about trauma, technology, and the retreat of humanity into itself. Indiewire has described it as “soul-shaking” and “a triumph.” Originally released as three short films over the course of six years, It’s Such a Beautiful Day was captured entirely in-camera on a 35mm rostrum animation stand. The picture painstakingly blends traditional hand-drawn animation and experimental optical effects with new digital hybrids, printed out one frame at time and placed under the camera.

The first animated feature from legendary filmmaker Don Bluth (The Land Before Time; An American Tail) is a thrilling adaption of Robert C. O’Brien’s acclaimed children’s book, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.I.M.H. The movie follows a brave widowed mouse named Mrs. Brisby (renamed from the book), who must move her children out of their home in a field before the local farmer starts plowing.

The Coffin Maker by Mark Clayton Southers
May 29 - June 16, 2024

In this new installment of his century-spanning chronicle of the Black experience inspired by his mentor August Wilson, Pittsburgh theater legend Mark Clayton Southers turns back the clock to 1849 Oklahoma. There, free man Lawrence Ebitts and his wife Eula live peacefully preparing bodies for burial with care and respect, until their world is turned upside down by a bounty hunter who gets more than he bargained for and a fugitive determined to forge his own future.

Celebrate Theodor Seuss Geisel (AKA Dr. Seuss!)’s 120th Birthday with Seussical - a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Pittsburgh’s own Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. Seussical is fun for the whole family!
