Warm-Up Series

Before our grand opening, the building will be open for a Warm-Up Series of programming held Sunday, August 24, through Friday, September 12. This series will allow students to experience the building and the new programs offered in a more intentional, intimate group before the building is officially open. Advanced registration is required to participate. Students will meet in the lobby on Level 1 and be escorted to their activity location by Campus Recreation staff.

Grand Opening

Our grand opening celebration will be held on Sunday, September 14! Join us from noon to 6 p.m. as we celebrate the first official swipe into the building, a selfie-station, a stress relief pop-up, a Sky Gym opening bash, and more. The fun doesn't stop on Sunday - we'll be celebrating all week long! Stay tuned for a full schedule of events.

Policies & Guidelines

 

General Guidelines

Prohibited Items

The following are prohibited items and behaviors inside of the Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC):

 

  • Alcohol, smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes, tobacco, gum, and any illegal drugs
  • Firearms and/or weapons of any kind
  • Abusive language or unsportsmanlike conduct
  • Glass bottles or supplies
  • Scooters, bikes, mopeds, skateboards, and any other transportation device that cannot be stored in a locker/cubby or uses a lithium battery
  • Chalk or liquid grip outside of designated areas
  • Blocking or propping doors or exit ways
  • Any kind of sporting activities in hallways or walkways/paths
  • Spitting on floors, walls, stairways, water fountains or restroom sinks
  • Inappropriate displays of affection
  • Ballons
  • Duck tap
  • Glitter 
  • Running main stairwells as a form or exercise
  • Using emergency exits outside during non-emergency times
  • Animals/pets.  Service animals assisting a person with a disability are permitted when in compliance with university regulation.
  • Personal emotional support animals are not permitted
Dress Code/Approved Attire

General Attire

  • Fitness attire should cover the chest and buttocks through all ranges of motion. Athletic or fitness pants and shorts should be free of belts, studs, rivets, and zippers that may damage the equipment.
  • We do not require gender-specific attire within any of our recreation facilities. Participants are encouraged to wear attire that honors their workout experience most. 

General Footwear

 

  • Shoes with a one-inch heel or greater and/or lacking a heel strap are not permitted. 
  • Covered toe and closed-heel, non-marking, rubber-soled shoes are required in activity areas unless noted in activity area policies.
  • Turf shoes, metal cleats or spikes are not permitted in the facility.
  • Climbing shoes required on top rope wall, bouldering wall, and mats at all times
  • We ask that you bring a change of shoes from November – March to avoid salt erosion on equipment and flooring

Aquatics Specific Attire

 

  • No see-through garments or underwear are allowed. 
  • Participants must wear clothes specifically designed for swimming. Workout attire is not permitted. 
  • Cutoffs and other clothing items that may be damaging to the pool or its chemistry are prohibited. 
  • Dry clothing and shoes must be worn to leave the pool and locker room area and return to the main facility. 
Personal Belongings
  • Personal belongings must be kept in a locker or designated area.
  • Bags are not permitted to be left on the floor of activity areas during workout
  • Bikes, skateboards, scooters, and motorized vehicles are not permitted inside the facility.
  • All personal belongings must fit in a locker or designated cubby area
  • Staff are not permitted to take possession of or store personal belongings behind work stations
  • Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property
  • Please report any lost items to Campus Recreation staff
Lost & Found
  • Any lost & found items turned in can be claimed at the Member Services Desk
  • Found items will be held for 21 days. Once the hold period expires, any unclaimed items will be donated
Food & Drink
  • Water and sports drinks in a sealable contain or sports bottle is the only beverage allowed past the turnstiles. Paper/plastic cups with plastic lids and straws are not permitted.
  • Glass bottles, drink containers unable to be re-sealed, and food is not permitted past the turnstiles
    • Strictly prohibited in the Pool, eSports, Climbing Wall, Multipurpose Studios, Courts and Fitness Zones
    • Events must receive a food/drink waiver to cater in any location inside the turnstiles
  • Items purchased from dining on level 1 must be consumed in dining or in level 1 or 5 lobbies outside of turnstiles          
  • Users are expected to dispose of any litter properly using the trash/recycling/compost locations on each floor
Music
  • Headphones must be used while listening to personal music in all shared spaces. Personal speakers with amplified sound are not permitted anywhere in the RWC without event approval.
  • Campus Recreation staff control the music playlist and volume level for the central system.  Staff will not adjust music to accommodate on site requests.  Campus Recreation will conduct opportunities to provide feedback on building music throughout the year
  • Studios where casting and Bluetooth is available are able to be used during exclusive group reservations.  Studios are to remain on building music when open for drop in use
  • Headphones are not permitted to be used while climbing, belaying, or swimming laps
Photography/Videography
  • Photography and videography are strictly prohibited in private spaces, including locker rooms, bathrooms, and changing areas
  • Users must submit a photo/video request to take pictures or videos in the RWC. This includes cell phones and tripods in fitness zones
  • Content Creators and Influencers must obtain pre-approval for filming content.  Campus Recreation staff will work with creators to provide approved filming locations and times. 
  • All approved photo/video requests will be provided with a credential to show staff.  Failure to show staff a pre-approval credential will result in staff asking you to end filming activities.  Failure to abide by staff instruction may result in removal from the facility and suspension of access.
Marketing
  • All signage, flyers or documents not produced by Campus Recreation must be submitted to appear on digital signage
  • No flyers or signage of any kind should be placed on walls, restroom doors, lockers or in stairways. All flyers will be removed promptly and repeat offenders will loose their ability to submit for digital signage time
Staff Authority
  • All members and guests that enter the RWC must follow professional and student staff guidelines
  • Staff of the RWC reserve the right to implement any rules or guidelines that protect the health, safety and wellbeing of the facility and its users
  • RWC Staff have the final authority on all matters concerning safety and emergency situations until substituted by proper responding authorities
  • RWC Staff have the authority to make judgement and final decisions on policies not covered in the facility
General Policies
  • The Student Code of Conduct is a set of expectations by which all Pitt students are required to abide by while in the Recreation and Wellness Center
  • Report all injuries, broken equipment, and other concerns to RWC staff
  • If damage occur to the RWC equipment or facilities, the responsible party will pay for the cost of the repair
  • Patrons should not be in areas labeled “Authorized Use Only”
  • Only authorized RWC Staff to provide personal or private training services within the facility
  • RWC Staff are not permitted to hold or store equipment, valuables or bags for members or guests
  • All participants are to follow good hand-washing hygiene, cover all wounds and clean equipment and mats before and after use
  • Hours are subject to change by RWC. Please refer to the website for the most up to date hours.
  • No one may enter the facilities unless supervised by RWC staff members. If RWC staff are not present, access is prohibited
  • All patrons must finish their workout, game or shower by posted facility closing times, so please plan your visit accordingly. Thank you in advance for your expected cooperation.

Activity Areas Policies

Aquatic Center
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Footwear: Street shoes that could track in dirt are not allowed on the wet deck; only non-slip water shoes or bare feet are permitted. 
  • Pool-Appropriate Clothing: Only non-cotton swimwear (e.g., rash guards, poly-blend dri-fit shirts) are allowed in the water. Water socks are permitted. 
  • Lifeguard Presence: Swimming is only permitted when a lifeguard is posted on duty. 
  • Hot Tub Safety: Limit hot tub use to 30 minutes to prevent heat-related illness. Follow all the posted guidelines. 
  • Circle Swimming Etiquette: Swim up the right side and down the left side of the lane. Choose a lane that matches your swimming speed and ability. 
  • Assistance with Communication: Patrons who are uncomfortable addressing lane-sharing concerns themselves can ask lifeguards for assistance. 
  • Accessibility Needs: Patrons with access needs that may impact lane sharing are encouraged to communicate with staff to ensure appropriate accommodation. 
  • No Hanging on Lane Lines: Hanging on lane lines is prohibited as it can cause damage. 
  • Depth Restrictions: Diving is permitted only in water deeper than 7 feet. 
  • Supervised Use of Diving Blocks: Diving blocks may only be used under supervision, and only aquatics staff can remove block covers. 
  • No Rough Play: Aggressive or unsafe play, such as dunking, pushing, or breath-holding games, is prohibited. 
  • Hypoxic Training: Holding breath underwater for prolonged periods or engaging in hypoxic swimming is strictly prohibited. 
  • Lifejackets: Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved lifejackets are permitted. 
  • Pool Toys and Exercise Equipment: Only pool-provided toys are allowed; personal exercise equipment is allowed. SCUBA gear and other specialized equipment are prohibited unless part of an approved program. 
  • Pre-Swim Hygiene: Patrons must shower before entering the pool or hot tub to maintain water quality. 
  • Restrictions on Pool Entry: Patrons with open wounds, communicable diseases, or recent digestive illness (within the last two weeks) should not enter the water. Patrons should not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol 
  • Lotions and Products: All lotions, hair products, and other potential contaminants must be rinsed off before swimming. 

Basketball Hoop Usage 

  • Dunking Prohibited: Dunking and hanging on the rim are not allowed to prevent equipment damage. 
  • Shooting Restrictions: Shooting from the deck or from outside the designated play area is prohibited to avoid interfering with swimmers. 

Spa Etiquette (Hot Tub) 

  • Appropriate Swimwear and Hygiene: Shower before entering, wear appropriate swimwear, and avoid entering under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 
  • Toys Prohibition: Pool toys are not allowed in the hot tub. 
  • Group Usage and Reservations 
  • Reservations for Large Groups: Large groups must reserve space before pool use to ensure availability and prevent overcrowding. 
  • Rec Area Etiquette: The rec area is for leisure and exercise. Patrons should keep noise to a reasonable level and be mindful of others. 
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others. 
Climbing Wall
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies. 
  • Footwear: Climbing shoes are always required when using the wall or on mats. Shoes are available to check-out at the Climbing Wall.  
  • Belaying: Top rope climbing requires a belay certification on site with Climbing Wall Staff. 
  • Lead climbing: Requires a lead certification completed on site with Climbing Wall staff.  
  • Approved Use: Climbing activities are only available when a certified attendant is present.  
  • Personal Equipment: Personal climbing equipment must be inspected by a climbing wall attendant or manager.  
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others 
Member Services Equipment Check Out
  • Location: Equipment checkout at member services is required to always remain inside the turnstiles of the RWC.   
  • Responsibility: Patrons are responsible for all equipment they check out under their name.  You are responsible to return equipment prior to leaving the facility in the same condition you checked it out in.    
  • Equipment Lists: Up to date equipment available can be found on the member portal, website, or by calling or stopping by each respective desk. 
  • Fees: Equipment checked out at this location is free of charge.  Failure to return equipment on time will result in late fees.  Additional equipment and supplies is available for sale at this location.   
  • Eligibility: Equipment is only available to be checked out by active members. Guests, punch pass holders, and spectators are not permitted to check out equipment.    
  • Limit: Members are only permitted to have 2 pieces of equipment actively checked out at any time.   
  • Return: All equipment is day use only and must be returned 10 minutes prior to closing.  Failure to return equipment may result in equipment fees. 
Outdoor Rental Center
  • Location: Equipment checked out at this location is intended for use outside the RWC. 
  • Responsibility: Patrons are responsible for all equipment they check out under their name.  You are responsible to return equipment in the same condition you checked it out in.    
  • Equipment Lists: Up to date equipment available can be found online https://live-studentaffairs-pitt.pantheonsite.io/campus-recreation  or by calling the Outdoor Rental Center.  
  • Fees: Equipment checked out at this location has a daily fee associated.  A current list of equipment fees can be found online https://live-studentaffairs-pitt.pantheonsite.io/campus-recreation or by calling the Outdoor Rental Center. 
  • Eligibility: Equipment is only available to be checked out by active members.  Guests, punch pass holders, and spectators are not permitted to check out equipment.    
  • Return: All equipment must be returned during operation hours on the day designated when completing the rental.  Failure to return on time will result in late fees.
E-Recreation
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Food & Drink: No Food, Drinks or Gum is allowed on the Esports computer desk and or near any of the gaming consoles 
  • Personal Equipment: Use of personal flash drives, controllers, cords, monitors or any additional hook up equipment is prohibited. No personal streaming or downloading of non-approved games 
  • Device Use: Esports area is designated for gaming and gaming competitions, please refrain from utilizing space for studying, homework, web browsing or any non Esports related activities 
  • Equipment Return: All participants are responsible for returning rented equipment immediately after use. 
  • Playing Time: All Participants will need to reserve 2-hour time slots through Pitt Campus Rec App. Campus Rec Staff reserve the right to add or limit time as needed due to demand.  
  • Personal Belongings: Backpacks are not permitted in the area and will need to be kept in a locker or another approved area.  
  • Facility Hours: Esports area will close one hour prior to the Campus Rec and Wellness Center closure 
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others 
Fitness Floors
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Chalk: Use of loose chalk is prohibited on fitness equipment.  Liquid grip may only be used on level 2 fitness zones.  
  • Footwear: Footwear outlined in general guidelines will be strictly enforced.  Shoes may only be removed when performing lifts on raised platforms.   
  • Re-Racking: Users are required to return all equipment to its proper location immediately after use. Users are required to unload all bars as well as re-rack all weight plates, bumper plates, dumbbells, and other equipment immediately after each use. 
  • Barbell Lifts: All barbell activities are required to remain on raised platforms or within designated rack locations. 
  • Sanitation: Users are recommended to use sanitation wipes on equipment before and after using 
  • Slamming and Dropping: Slamming or dropping weights is not permitted.  All weights must be controlled through the lift and placed down from below the knee. 
  • Bumper Plates: The use of bumper plates is required when deadlifting. 
  • Etiquette: Allow others to work in when doing multiple sets on weight equipment. Users are asked to adhere to a 30-minute time limit on all strength racks and cardio equipment during peak times.  
  • Personal belongings: Must be kept in a locker or cubby.  Bags are not permitted to be left on the floor or in walkways during workouts.  
  • Personal Equipment: Patrons are not permitted to bring their own barbells, suspension straps/rings, or other large equipment.  Permitted personal equipment include foam rollers, yoga mats, weight belts, lifting shoes, wrist wraps, knee sleeves, gloves, clips/collars, resistance bands, and various stretching/mobility equipment.  
  • Collars: Clips or collars are strongly recommended on all barbell lifts.  
  • Moving or Modifying Equipment:  Fitness equipment is not permitted to be moved out of its designated zone location. Machines and equipment modified for use outside of its intended purpose is not permitted. All equipment must be used in a manner for which it was designed.  
  • Weight Limits: Do not add more than the recommended amount of weight to machines.  Adding weights plates to sectorized and cable stacks is strictly prohibited. 
  • Protecting our Facility: Keep all weights away from railings, mirrors, and windows 
  • Group Lifts: All group lifts must be pre-approved by Campus Recreation staff and should not monopolize any equipment that impacts the general user experience 
  • Photo/Video: Photography and audio/video recording is prohibited in all areas of the facility without prior approval.  This includes cell phones/tripod use in fitness zones.   
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others

  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • All-Gender Locker Room: Change clothes in individual changing rooms only, not in locker area. 
  • Personal belongings: Must be kept in a locked locker. Should not be left on benches of floor. 
  • Day Use: All day use lockers must be cleared out by closing each day.  Inquire with member services for long term locker rentals. 
  • Liability: Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items or items left after closing. 
  • Photography: For the privacy of our patrons, the use of cell phones, cameras, and any other audio or video recording devices is strictly prohibited 
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others 

Day Lockers 

  • Day Use Only: All contents must be removed prior to the Campus Rec and Wellness Center closing. Any items left over will be held in Lost in Found.  
  • Personal Belongings: Must be stored in a locker. Staff are not permitted to store large items that do not fit in day lockers.  
  • Liability: Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items or contents left after closing 
  • Support: Please see a Campus Recreation Staff Member for any assistance with lockers  
  • Troubleshooting: If a patron forgets the locker number and/or combination, please attempt to locate your belongings to the best of your ability.  If you are unsuccessful, contact a staff member to support. 
    • Due to the liability of lost or damaged items, staff are only permitted to open FIVE lockers of the patron’s choice. The Patron must describe the contents of locker and confirm any valuables prior to staff opening any lockers. 
    • If the locker(s) selected does not belong to the patron, they must return to retrieve their items from Lost & Found on the next operating day or wait for Pitt Police to assist with retrieval 
Meeting Rooms
  • Reservation Required: A reservation is required by a university group in order to utilize meeting rooms. 
  • Audio/Visual Equipment: TVs support casting and HDMI connection.  Groups are responsible for providing devices needed to connect to A/V equipment. 
  • Tables/Chairs: Room set up must be confirmed at the time of reservation.  Standard set up is meeting format.  All tables and chairs must be returned to their original location by the end of the reservation.  
Multipurpose Studios
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Personal Belongings: All bags should be kept off the floor and equipment. Please store items in lockers or cubbies   
  • Equipment Location: All equipment must remain in their designated fitness zone or studio. Users are not permitted to move equipment 
  • Wall Partitions: Partition walls in Level 3 and Level 8 studios may only be operated by RWC staff   
  • Markings: The use of tape or other marking materials is prohibited on walls, mirrors, doors or floor surfaces unless approved by Campus Recreation professional staff   
  • Mirrors: Leaning equipment against mirrors is prohibited. Patrons must remain at least one arm-length from mirrors during activities   
  • Audio/Visual Systems: Available to Campus Recreation programming and reservations only. Reservations must have devices able to Bluetooth or cast to A/V system. 
  • Footwear: Wearing boots and heels is prohibited during activities. Barefoot is prohibited except for a pre-approved programs or reservations.  
  • Waiting: Do not dance or congregate in the fitness zones outside the studio before or after your reservation. Please wait in hallway/lobby areas.    
  • First-Come, First-Serve: All studios are used in a drop in format or first come first serve when not reserved. Staff will clear drop in users 15 minutes prior to scheduled programming or reservations. 
  • Storage Rooms: Equipment in storage rooms is only for Campus Recreation programming use.  Studio 207 Club Storage is only permitted to be used during approved club practice times.  Equipment must remain stored outside of club practices in 207.  
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others. 
Reflection Room
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Footwear: Shoes are strictly prohibited from being worn in the reflection room. 
  • Drop In Format: All use is in a drop in format to use the space for their preferred reflection activity 
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others. 
Sport Courts – Floor 6 MAC & Floor 8 Sky Gym
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Conduct: Fighting, rough play, or unruly conduct is not permitted 
  • Sports Permitted: Basketball, Volleyball, MAC Only: Badminton, Pickleball, Futsal  
  • Prohibited Sports: Football, baseball, softball, frisbee, lacrosse, and hockey are not permitted in the facility. 
  • Basketball Rims: Hanging on the basketball rim or net is not permitted 
  • Sports Equipment: Required equipment for permitted sports is available for check out at Member Services Equipment Check Out on Level 5.  All sports equipment must be promptly returned to Member Services immediately following use. Failure to return equipment may result in financial charges. 
  • Volleyball Adjustments: Adjustments to the volleyball net height can only be made by Campus Recreation staff.  Participants may not adjust net height, tension, or out of bounds rods on their own.   
  • Wheeled Vehicles: Skates, blades, scooters, strollers, are not permitted on courts. Wheelchairs permitted on MAC Court for adapted sport activities 
  • Dress Code: Attire and  Footwear outlined in general guidelines will be strictly enforced.  Shirts must be always worn.  Athletic non-marking shoes required for participation.  
  • Floor Markings: Placing any type of tape or marking material on the floor is not permitted. 
  • Scheduling: Campus Recreation programs and reservation groups have priority on the courts.  Facility schedules can be found on the Campus Recreation website. 
    • Reservations for the courts will be forfeited if reserving party arrives 15 minutes or more after start time. 
  • Open Recreation Play: First-come first-serve basis outside of reservations. Consult a staff member for sport specific scoring guidance to maintain structure and game flow.  Drop in users will be cleared out 15 minutes prior to an incoming reservation.   
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others. 
Stress Free Zone
  •  Purpose of the Space: This space is intended exclusively for mindfulness, meditation, deep breathing, and quiet reflection. Please do not use the space for studying, sleeping, socializing, or scrolling on your phone. 
  •  Respect the Practice: Always maintain a quiet and respectful atmosphere. Speak only if necessary, and in a whisper. Please silence all devices before entering. 
  •  Shoes Off, Mindfulness On: Remove your shoes before entering the space. Feel free to use socks or bring indoor slippers if needed. 
  •  Clean & Clear: Leave the space better than you found it. Put away any cushions, mats, or other items you use. Dispose of trash properly and keep the area clean for others. 
  • Shared Responsibility: Be mindful of how long you use the space during busy times so others have a chance to enjoy it too. Treat others with kindness, and the space with care. Let this be a place to pause, reset, and reconnect—for yourself and our community.  
Track
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Track Direction: Users are required to follow designated track direction 
    • Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Sunday – Clockwise 
    • Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday - Counterclockwise 
  • Lane Etiquette: Lane 1 should be used for running, Lanes 2 and 3 should be used for jogging/walking. Groups are not permitted to take up all 3 lanes. Must leave an open lane for users to pass.
  • Stretching: All stretching should take place in designated stretching zone 
  • Equipment: Fitness equipment is not permitted to be used on the track (including dumbbells, kettlebells, slam balls). Throwing equipment from the track is strictly prohibited (Includes basketballs, volleyballs, and other equipment). 
  • Footwear: Spikes and cleats are not permitted on the track.  Footwear outlined in general guidelines will be strictly enforced. 
  • Spectating: Spectating activities in the Sky Gym from the track is not permitted.  
  • Markings: Floor tape or markings is not permitted to be added to the track surface by patrons. 
  • Wheeled Vehicles: Strollers, Bikes, Scooters, or any other wheel vehicles are prohibited from being on the track apart from ADA designated vehicles and adaptive sports equipment. 
  • Distance: 7 Laps = 1 Mile 
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others 
Turf & Speed Ramp
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Equipment: Equipment is not permitted on the BLUE turf (speed ramp).  Only equipment located on the black turf may be used on the black turf.  Equipment from other zones is not permitted to be moved to the turf area.   
  • Surroundings: Be aware of your surroundings when utilizing the area.  Be mindful of your lane when on the speed ramp and radius around you needed for functional training to avoid impacting others around you.   
  • Entry/Exit: Users must enter/exit the turf area from the level 3 hallway.  Users are not permitted to enter/exit from the top of the speed ramp through the climbing wall area.   
  • Footwear: Spikes and cleats are not permitted.  Footwear requirements in general guidelines will be strictly enforced.   
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others 

Program Policies

Group Fitness
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Facility Policies: Participants are responsible for knowing and following all activity area policies associated with the program location. 
  • Registration: Pre-registration is required for Group Fitness and Small Group Training sessions. Registration takes place online via the Campus Recreation Member Portal or in the Pitt Campus Recreation App.   
    • Registration opens 48 hours in advance for Group Fitness. 
    • Walk-ins are welcome if class is not at capacity. 
  • Cancellation: if you can no longer attend a program you registered for.  You are required to cancel your registration via the app or member portal prior the start of class.  Failure to attend without prior notice may result in a no-show fee, impact future participation privileges, and program eligibility. 
  • Arrival: Participants must arrive and check in by the start of class.  Studio doors will close and check-in will not be permitted once the class warm-up is complete.   
  • Lighting: Some studio lighting can customize with special effects.  If you need an accommodation, please notify the instructor at the beginning of class. 
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others. 
Intramurals
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Facility Policies: Participants are responsible for knowing and following all activity area policies associated with the program location.
  • Registration: All participants must be properly registered and on an IMLeagues roster.   
  • Default/Forfeit: If your team is unable to attend a scheduled competition, you are responsible for notifying the Competitive & Recreational Programs team at pittcompsports@pitt.edu by 12:00 P.M. on the day of the competition.  Failure to do so will result in a forfeit, may impact future participation privileges, eligibility, and a forfeit fee will be assessed.   
  •  Spectators: Space to spectate activities varies per facility.  Spectators must remain only in approved areas and will be held to strict guidelines in additional to participants.  
    • Spectators must always remain sportsmanlike and respectful 
    • Verbal attacks toward players, teams, or officials is prohibited 
    • Spectators are also held to all general and facilities guidelines associated with the activity they are spectating 
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others. 
Outdoor Adventure Pursuits
  • General Guidelines: Users are responsible for knowing and following all general guidelines in addition to area specific policies 
  • Facility Policies: Participants are responsible for knowing and following all activity area policies associated with the program location. 
  • Registration: Pre-registration is required for OAP programs. Registration takes place online via the Campus Recreation Member Portal or in the Pitt Campus Recreation App.   
    • Registration opens 7 days in advance for programs. 
    • Walk-ins are welcome if the program is not at capacity. 
  • Cancellation: if you can no longer attend a program you registered for.  You are required to cancel your registration via the app or member portal prior the start of class.  Failure to do so will result in a no-show fee. 
  • Arrival: Participants must arrive and check in by the start of the program.  Participants will not be permitted to join after 5 minutes past the start time.  
  • Staff Authority: Campus Recreation staff have the authority to end any activities deemed unsafe or harmful to the facility or others.
