BAS traditionally partners with CCLD and other student groups (National Society of Black Engineers, Jumpstart, etc.) for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. The Pitt community also looks forward to BAS’s Black History Month programming.
ASA represents five Asian-American student groups: the Chinese American Student Association, Filipino Students Association, Indian Sub-Continent Association, Korean Culture Association, and the Vietnamese Student Association.
CWO sponsors the annual Take Back the Night Rally/March that is focused on eradicating violence against women. CWO programming also includes the Vagina Monologues and a self-defense class.
The Hillel JUC serves an estimated 1,700 Jewish undergraduate students at Pitt through umbrella organizations including the Jewish Student Union, The Vokols, Panthers for Israel, PIPAC, Challah for Hunger, Jews of Social Work, Schmutzzz (improv and theater), and the Campus Entrepreneurs Initiative.
The Rainbow Alliance provides for the needs and interests of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual (and more!) community at Pitt and beyond through advocacy, education, and social opportunities.
The Pitt Dance Marathon is a 16 hour dance extravaganza that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. There are many ways for students to get involved with Pitt Dance Marathon. Email the PDM leadership at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
