Dr. Mumbe Kithakye serves as the inaugural Executive Director of Assessment and Data Analytics in the Division of Student Affairs.
Dr. Kithakye received her BS in Biology from Messiah University, her MPH in international health and development from Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, and her PhD in Human Development and Family Science from Oklahoma State University. Her research interests include living-learning communities, factors that promote student success, and emotional regulation—all grounded in the belief that the better we understand context and factors influencing student growth and development, the better we can prepare students for success.
Prior to joining Pitt, Dr. Kithakye spent several years at Oklahoma State University, where she bridged residential life and academic learning, most recently serving as Assistant Director of Residential Learning. In that role, she developed trainings for students and staff and taught courses in leadership, psychology, and parenting. This dual focus on practice and pedagogy has equipped her with a unique perspective on how data can tell the story of student growth and institutional effectiveness.
At the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Kithakye leads the division's efforts to collect, analyze, and disseminate data. She empowers departments to design meaningful assessment tools, identify goals, and measure key performance indicators, while collaborating with campus partners to integrate Student Affairs data within broader institutional systems. Her work enhances the division's ability to measure impact and drive continuous improvement.
Outside of work, Mumbe enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, exploring the outdoors, and cheering on her children at their soccer and track events.
