John Bennett enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 2003. As an enlisted Soldier he held the ranks of Private through Sergeant and as a Commissioned Officer 2nd Lieutenant through Captain. Upon enrollment in Army ROTC, he also served in the Simultaneous Membership Program. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps through the University of Pittsburgh Army ROTC in 2007. He is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. John Bennett is a graduate of Basic Combat Training, Fire Control Systems Repairer Course (distinguished honor graduate), Ordnance Officer Basic Course (class leader), Basic Officer Leader Course, Logistics Captain Career Course, Support Operations Course, Military Decision Making Course, Emergency Preparedness Response Course, Company Commander Course, Department of Defense Recovery Care Coordinator Course, Army Wounded Warrior Program Course, Military History Instructor Course, and Common Faculty Development Instructor Course. He also holds Defense Acquisition Work Force Improvement Act certifications in Lifecycle Logistics, Program Management, Program Systems, Systems Engineering, Science and Technology Management from the Defense Acquisition University. He has held the following Military Occupational Specialties: 91G Fire Control Repairer, 91A Ordnance Officer, 90A Logistics Officer, 51A Acquisition Officer, and 71F Research Psychology Officer. John Bennett’s previous assignments include: maintenance management soldier, transportation platoon leader, maintenance control officer (shop officer), logistics management specialist, product support officer, company commander, S4 logistics staff officer, and special staff support officer. John Bennett also completed fellowships in health operations management with the Veterans Affairs Health Administration and as a public health scientist and program evaluator with the Army Public Health Command. He also has experience as a Department of Defense and Army Recovery Care Coordinator (Wounded Warrior Advocate) with the Army Wounded Warrior Command. He was mobilized in support of the Global War on Terrorism and was mobilized for several state of emergencies. John Bennett’s awards and decorations include: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Service Medal with bronze hourglass, Pennsylvania National Guard Service Medal, General Thomas White Medal, General Thomas Steward Medal. John Bennett’s higher education include Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science, and Organizational Behavior (Cum Laude), Master of Science in Community Leadership (Magna Cum Laude), and Master of Arts in Health Care Ethics (Magna Cum Laude) from Duquesne University. He holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Leadership and a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership with major in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Regent University. He also holds a Certificate in Project Management from Martinsburg College. John Bennett has several years of civilian experience as a Professor (Adjunct, Visiting, Assistant, Associate, and Program Director) having taught courses at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. John Bennett is married to his wife and has one son. He also has a Siberian Retriever dog. He currently serves as an Army National Guard Officer.
