Micah Reed (he/him) serves as the Manager for Access and Student Success Initiatives within the Horizon Scholars Program. In this role, he supports scholars throughout their journey from enrollment at the University of Pittsburgh through graduation. He manages two key areas: Student Success Resource Support and Student Success Programs and Initiatives, ensuring students have access to the tools, resources, and programming necessary to achieve their goals.
In addition to his work with Horizon Scholars, Micah is an Adjunct Instructor, where he teaches and supports students in developing the academic, personal, and professional skills necessary for success in higher education.
Prior to joining Pitt, Micah served as a Retention Specialist and Adjunct Lecturer at West Virginia University. In this position, he directed academic intervention programs for students on probation, providing coaching and support to strengthen persistence and retention. He also led initiatives to enhance success for first-generation students, working closely with faculty, staff, and student organizations to build engagement and belonging. In addition, Micah taught BCOR-191, a first-year seminar course designed to help new and transfer students set and accomplish academic, personal, financial, and career goals.
Earlier in his career, Micah worked in residence life at California University of Pennsylvania and Radford University, where he managed residence hall operations, supervised resident assistant teams, and coordinated student development and engagement initiatives. His work focused on fostering inclusive communities, mentoring students, and collaborating across departments to support student well-being and success.
Micah graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s Degree in College Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications with concentrations in Journalism/Public Relations.
