Detachment 730 Commander

Lt Col Rob Chance is the Commander of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 730, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As Commander, Lt Col Chance also serves as Department Chair and Professor of Aerospace Studies. He is responsible for officer education and training for AFROTC cadets from the University of Pittsburgh and 15 crosstown universities in the greater Pittsburgh area.

Lt Col Chance is a native of Poland, Ohio and commissioned through AFROTC at Ohio State University. He has served in various operational and staff capacities to include assignments in the INDOPACOM, EUCOM, and SOUTHCOM AORs. He is also SOUTHCOM-focused Foreign Area Officer and maintains Spanish language proficiency.

Prior to his current assignment, Lt Col Chance commanded the 571st Mobility Support Advisory Squadron executing world-wide Air Advisor missions to build capacity and interoperability with Ally and Partner military forces in support of national security objectives.
