Michaiah Johnson

Michaiah Johnson is a third year at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in English Writing, on the fiction track, with minors in English Literature and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. Her time at Pitt has been very rewarding. In Michaiah’s first year, she joined the editorial team for Pitt’s multidisciplinary undergraduate journal, Forbes & Fifth, of which she is now co-Editor-in-Chief. She is also the Events Coordinator for Pitt’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English Honor Society, and a member of Pitt’s chapter of Days for Girls, an organization that makes reusable period products to be distributed around the world. Michaiah also had the opportunity to spend a summer abroad in Dublin, Ireland, where she interned as a content writer for a non-profit Queer magazine called Gay Community News. During her eight weeks abroad, Michaiah wrote and published 35 articles! Her position as a Nordenberg Scholar has encouraged Michaiah to pursue these opportunities, as well as fostering her leadership capabilities through programs like Panther Leadership Academy. Michaiah is massively grateful for all the opportunities she has been awarded while at the University of Pittsburgh, and she feels these experiences have given her the tools and confidence to continue seizing opportunities during her remaining time as an undergraduate.
