Registration

 

When is the registration deadline?

The deadline to register online is Monday, October 16, 2016.  Advance online registration at $35 per family ends October 16, 2017.  After October 16, online registration is no longer available. If tickets and passes are still available, registration at $45 per family begins at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017 in person at Family Weekend check-in (William Pitt Union).

Can I register on-site?

Onsite registration will be available on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the William Pitt Union.  The on-site registration fee is $45/family.  Tickets for the football game will be sold to the extent that they are available.

Do I have to register?

We hope you will! The Family Weekend program coordinates options for families to enjoy a campus visit with their students, including social events, freebies, and fantastic ticket discounts! But NO, if you do not wish to attend Family Weekend programs and take advantage of exclusive ticket pricing, registration is not required – you are always welcome on campus.

 

Check-In

 

Do I have to check-in for Family Weekend?

If you are registered – YES! Tickets are not mailed and must be picked up at Family Weekend Check-in. Wristbands for registered families and printed copies of the final schedule are also distributed at Check-in. Your student may check in on behalf of family; student or parent photo ID required.

IMPORTANT:  If your family is using the student ticket exchange program for the football game, you MUST check in on Friday, October 27.  Your student may check in on behalf of your family.

When and where is Check-In?

Check-In will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the William Pitt Union.  Photo ID is required to check-in.

Can my student check in for our family?

Yes!  Your student may check-in on behalf of your family as long as they have a valid photo ID (student ID or driver’s license).  *However, all family members must be present to receive wristbands to the residence halls.

Will event tickets still be available at Check-In?

Tickets for the football game will be sold to the extent that they are available.

Why do I need a Family Weekend wristband?

Family Weekend wristbands are distributed at check-in and each family will receive one wristband per family member (including students).  These wristbands will grant you access to wonderful discounts at area museums and stores and access to some Family Weekend events.  Family Weekend wristbands will also grant you access to receive an additional wristband in the William Pitt Union Kurtzman Room for expedited access to the residence hall.

How can I get a wristband for easy accessibility to my student’s residence hall?

You must be checked in for Family Weekend and be able to show the Family Weekend wristband to gain access. Wristbands for easy access to your student’s residence hall will be distributed by the Residence Life staff at Family Weekend Check-In on Friday, October 2017 from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.  This is a separate process from the Family Weekend registration and check-in process.  Families MUST be registered for Family Weekend in order to receive these wristbands.  Due to security policies, ALL Family members MUST be present WITH their student to receive a residence hall wristband.

Parking 

 

Where can my family park for the weekend?

Public parking is available at multiple locations on lower and upper campus. Soldiers and Sailors (SS) Garage is most convenient to the O'Hara Student Center and William Pitt Union on lower campus. For vehicles entering after 4 p.m. on Friday, a flat rate applies. Vehicles entering before 4 p.m. will pay the hourly rate for the entire length of their parking stay. The garage closes nightly—please refer to the posted closing time.

 

Upper campus parking is available in the OC (Allequippa Street) Lot, located between the Cost Center and Sutherland Hall.  Shuttle service is available from upper campus. The 15A OC shuttle runs to lower campus only until 10:30 p.m. on Friday. The 10A Upper Campus shuttle will run through the weekend; the 10A stop is at Sutherland Hall.

Students can pre-purchase a weekend pass for $15 to Soldiers and Sailors Garage by visiting the Pitt Parking Office (204 Brackenridge) by or before 5 p.m., Thursday, October 26. The weekend pass will allow the family in and out privileges for the garage. The pass is valid after 4 p.m. on Friday and all day on the weekends. Listed below are the hourly, night, and weekend rates. Please note entering prior to 4 p.m. will result in regular daytime charges.

Transportation 

 

Can my family use the campus shuttle system during Family Weekend?

Campus shuttles are available to all family members during Family Weekend.  Family members are also welcome to use the game shuttles down to the football game at Heinz Field.

 

Refunds

 

Is my Family Weekend registration fee refundable?

The Family Weekend Registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.

Am I able to get a refund for event tickets?

Event ticket refunds will be available (via online registration update) until Monday, October 16, 2017. NO REFUNDS of any type will be processed after OCTOBER 16.
