Transfer Student Programs
Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh! As a transfer student, you are among the estimated 4,000 Pitt undergraduate students that have transferred to Pitt. We realize there are many different factors leading to your decision to transfer and we are ready to meet your needs as you prepare for this transition.
We offer a wide range of opportunities for Pitt transfer students to get involved and experience campus.
Transfer students are invited to participate fully in New Student Orientation which begins with events on Monday, August 21st and continues through Sunday, August 27th. Transfer Student Orientation is designed specifically to help transfer students find resources, get involved at Pitt, and connect with other new and current transfer students.
The signature program during Transfer Student Orientation is Transfer Day – which is offered twice.
Transfer Day Option 1*
Monday, August 21 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. William Pitt Union, Main Floor
*Attending this option will allow students to also attend the University Resource Fair from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.
Transfer Day Option 2
Friday, August 25 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. William Pitt Union, Main Floor
Attendance at Transfer Day is not required; however, it is strongly recommended and students that participate report they are better prepared to begin their 1st semester at Pitt. Students also report attending other Transfer Student Orientation events and opportunities helped them connect with other students and find campus resources. Transfer students will be invited to sign up for either Transfer Day session on July 1, 2017.
New for this year, we’ve designed a Panther Connect Pre-Orientation retreat just for transfer students. This retreat will be on Saturday, August 19 – Sunday, August 20.
This retreat is a dynamic, student-centered experience designed to connect you with other transfer students and learn more about Pitt’s campus culture and traditions.
- Develop a diverse social network with over 50 transfer students and current upper-class student leaders
- Participate in outdoor recreation activities centered on team work, strategy, and leadership
- Learn more about navigating Pitt’s academic environment and getting involved on campus
