For diagnosis and treatment purposes, Student Health Service clinicians may order laboratory testing for our student patients. For the convenience of our students, the Student Health Service (SHS) offers limited on-site laboratory testing (CLIA-waived testing) for our patients.
- Rapid Strep Testing
- Rapid Mononucleosis Testing
- Rapid HIV Testing (FREE)
- Urine Pregnancy Testing
- Wet Prep
There is a fee for on-site laboratory testing, which, in most situations, is covered by one’s health insurance.
All other laboratory tests are sent to our full-service, reference laboratory, Quest Diagnostics. This is fee-for-service arrangement; Quest Diagnostics will submit a claim to your health insurance for payment.
If you do not wish to bill your insurance for testing, or if your insurance plan does not have Quest Diagnostics as an approved in-network laboratory service, you will be responsible for all associated charges. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company to determine whether it has an agreement with Quest Diagnostics.
Blood (phlebotomy) and other specimen collection is performed on-site at the SHS; specimens are then sent to Quest Diagnostics daily for testing.
Students will be contacted by their SHS clinician to discuss test results, once received and reviewed by the clinician.
