Connection with current students: Global Ties Mentors will start reaching out to incoming international and recent immigrant/refugee students in May to support them and build a mentoring relationship.
Connection with their peers (other international students): Global Ties will provide opportunities to engage with fellow international students in small groups.
Pre-arrival Support Zoom: International students may attend virtual sessions centered around their major, school, geographical home region, or special interests to meet other students with shared backgrounds or interests.
Mandatory International Orientation: Learn information for new international students and meet the Global Ties Mentors.
Fall Programs: Regardless of Pitt’s in-person or online status, Global Ties will provide meaningful social programs for international and domestic students to connect.
Summer International Associates Program: Current international students (of all years) who lost summer opportunities due to the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible to be matched with virtual summer internships through the Summer International Associates Program.
#GTWeCare Virtual Hangouts: Current international students are invited to join us on Zoom every Saturday night to hang out. You will receive a link with an email.
Global Connect: Both international and domestic students are welcome at our social events, providing opportunities for cross-cultural connections.
International Student Empowerment Workshop Series for first-year international students:
- Learn about your personal strengths from StrengthQuest personality quiz.
- Learn about job, leadership, and volunteer opportunities on campus available through the International Associate program.
- Meet international alumni who have pursued different paths, such as graduate school and working in and outside of US.
