William Pitt Union (WPU)

Information Desk

  • The Information Desk, located on the main floor of the William Pitt Union (WPU), gladly assists individuals or groups with questions about events happening in the building. Information Desk attendants also serve as great resources for general information about campus and the city.
  • Officers of student organizations must report to the Information Desk to sign-out their office keys.

  • VGA cables and Mac adapters are available to be temporarily signed out when you are having an event in one of the student unions.
  • Pianos can be signed out with a valid Pitt ID after 5 p.m. on weekdays and at any point in time during weekends (event permitting).
  • Lost and found is located at the Information Desk.
  • Ticket Office

    The WPU Ticket Office is located on the main floor, to the right of the Information Desk. This office is shared with the Pitt Program Council Ticket Office, which operates Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Fridays 10 a.m. – 5 .p.m. They are closed during the summer.

    Accepted Forms of Payment

    Depending on the event, the WPU Ticket Office accepts cash, checks, money orders, and Panther Funds ONLY! No debit or credit cards are accepted. Different forms of payment are accepted, depending on the service requested. See below for a comprehensive list:

    Cathedral Locker Rentals

    Hours of Operation: 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

    Payment: Cash only

    Lockers may be rented for one, two, or three terms. All lockers must be vacated at the end of the rental period. Any materials left in lockers after the vacate date will be disposed of.
    $8.00 – Lock Fee (refundable when lock is returned)
    $6.00 – First term rental fee
    $3.00 – Rental fee for each term after the first one

    Rental Duration

    All rentals must be renewed or vacated (terminated) by the last Friday in April, the second Friday in August, and the third Friday in December.

    Rental Termination

    Students may terminate their locker rental any time during the school year by removing the contents of the locker and returning the lock to the WPU Ticket Office. A receipt will be issued for $8.00, redeemable at the Student Payment Center in Thackeray Hall. Failure to return the lock may result in a hold being placed on the student’s account.

    Parking Passes for Panther Football

    Passes for stadium lots 7F & 7H are available free of charge to students on Wednesdays before Saturday home games. Students must show Pitt ID, game ticket, and have vehicle information, including license plate number.
     

    Ticket Window / Cash Box Request

    All arrangements to use the ticket window or a cashbox must be made in advance using the Ticket Office Window and/or Cashbox Request.

    The request must be on department or student organization letterhead and submitted two weeks prior to the event.

    Information required:
    Name of Student Organization or Department
    You must provide the name, phone number, and e-mail address of student or representative requesting a cash box or the use of the ticket window. This person will be responsible for the money and must be able to show a valid Pitt ID, State ID, or PA Driver’s License.
    State the name and location of the event, time and date when the cash box/ticket window will be required. (Locations on campus are limited).

    Unless other arrangements are made, the cash box (alone or in conjunction with the ticket window) will contain $50 in $1 bills.


    Come with a prepared and signed Cashbox Contract which can also be found in the Forms section of our web site.


    When you are finished collecting money the House Manager on duty will need to count all funds collected, sign-off on the deposit, and give you a receipt.


    The Ticket Office space is offered as a courtesy. Please leave it as you found it.

     

    Student Group and Department Event Ticket Sales

    Our staff is happy to sell tickets to your student organization or department event on your behalf. If you would like to utilize this service, please read below.

    Individuals interested in selling tickets through the WPU Ticket Office must first call and make an appointment. The Ticket Office can be reached at (412) 648-7814. The best times to make appointments are between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

     

    Ticket Sales Guidelines

    The WPU Ticket Office will contract for the sale of tickets for groups under the following guidelines:

    All tickets must be numbered (i.e. 1-100) and include the price, date, time, and event location. You are responsible for printing the tickets. There are no restrictions on size, thickness, color, etc. for the tickets themselves. Please allow time to count tickets with a Ticket Office representative.


    The sponsor of the event will supply and deliver all tickets to the office with a memo, typed on the group’s or sponsor’s letterhead. Required information includes:

    Name of group
    Student contact name, phone number, and e-mail
    Sponsor or advisor’s name and phone number/e-mail
    Date, time, and location of event
    The price of tickets (for students and non-students)
    The range of ticket numbers. (Ex. 1-100)
    Any restrictions on buying tickets; example, one per student, Pitt student I.D required, e-mail or phone number recorded, etc.
    Date and Time tickets will be picked up before the event.
    The Ticket Office will deposit all proceeds from the event into the sponsor’s University account. No money will be given directly to the student group or sponsor.

    All transactions with the Ticket Office must be completed by 4:00 p.m.


    If tickets are to be sold at the door after 5:00 p.m., all proceeds must be brought to the WPU Information Desk. Sponsors must consult with the House Manager on duty to count the money and be issued a receipt. The money will be deposited into the sponsor’s University account the following business day.
