Access To and Use Of Athletic/Recreational Facilities
All of our campus recreation facilities are ADA compliant and offer opportunities for people of all abilities, race, gender, sexual orientation, or physical or mental impairment to participate. Bathroom Policy for Transgender Patrons
Students shall have access to the restroom that corresponds with their gender expression. The following facilities offer single use restrooms:
Bellefield Hall – 2nd Floor Location 209A, Accessible Locker Room is located on the 1st Floor
Petersen Event Center – 2nd Floor Location 2030, Club Level Common Area Room 4016, Concourse Level Common Area Room 5070. Single Use/Gender Neutral Changing Room is located on the Event Level (EL) of the Petersen Events Center. See the Baierl Recreation Center Front Desk for Assistance. Keys to the locked facility are available via the 24/7 Security Desk.

All eligible individuals can participate in Pitt’s Intramural Sports program regardless of race, color, age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, sex, marital status, disability, or status as a U.S. Veteran. Individuals shall be permitted to participate in the intramural sports league that relates to their gender identity. The participant’s gender identify and expression will also be applied when there are gender specific rules or player ratio requirements in our Co-Rec Leagues. While sport programs are typically offered in gender-based divisions (men’s, women’s, co-rec), Pitt Rec seeks to provide opportunities for all students to participate in its programs inclusive of gender identity. Clubs are open to full-time students, full-time Faculty/Staff and full-time graduate students regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, sexual orientation or disabilities. Divisions of competition for Pitt Rec are men’s, women’s and open categories. When a gender designation is requested/required for an activity, students may select and participate in the group they identify as/with. However, some competitive clubs may have their own specific eligibility guidelines set by their respective sports’ governing body, which have specific standards for collegiate competition. Group Exercise Classes
Our personal trainers are here to help all participants of Pitt Rec, they are trained to tailor workout routines to the specific needs of the individual. This includes individuals with disabilities, injuries, or those that may be in the recovery process.
Adaptive Sports & Equipment
The Campus Recreation Department currently offers accessible equipment and other inclusive fitness resources for students with disabilities to improve fitness and overall quality of daily living. The Baierl Recreation Center, among other facilities, provides opportunities for students with disabilities to increase their physical activity, as well as receive information on their fitness needs and goals.
